What I am packing for my Mexico vacation

Have you ever been to a place that makes your soul come alive? When I was 19, I traveled to Mexico and Guatemala with a friend to go to a spanish language school in Guatemala. Because her passport never arrived, she had to return home but we relaxed in Playa del Carmen, Mexico for a week before we were due to leave. I continued on alone and when I returned, I visited a magical beach called Tulum. Yes, the Riviera Maya is dotted with large luxury and glittery resorts but Tulum maintains it’s natural laid back vibe. 2 years ago, David and I escaped for a romantic holiday over Thanksgiving and he we sick with cold and flu. My poor babe was miserable for an entire week. We stayed at La Revé (which was lovely and I highly recommend it) and took a day trip to Tulum. He surprisingly recovered briefly and when we got to the top of the cliffs at the Mayan ruins overlooking the bright turquoise sea, his soul came alive as well. We languished for the day-eating, sipping, reading, napping and frolicking in the ocean before returning to Playa.

Since that vacation, I vowed that we would return to Tulum and soak it all up again. Reservations are made and I can’t wait to share our adventures with you. This time we are staying at Sanara Tulum, a luxury eco chic hotel and wellness center and a premier yoga retreat studio.

But first a girl has to decide what to wear. Ok, so this is my dream suitcase.
First up are the swimsuits. I’m a sucker for anything ruffled and I’m dying to try out the high waist bottoms of this American Apparel suit. So fun!

Then the cover ups…Because a girl has got to hop on the bike and head to downtown Tulum for a fresh lunch of fish tacos and margaritas. Can you keep a secret? I already scooped the J. Crew white eyelet tunic. It is on sale with an extra 25% off with code “SALELOVE”. It was practically irresponsible not to get it.
I’ll need a straw fedora to keep the sun out of my eyes.
I’m loving this black and white one from BCBG MAXAZRIA.
Finally, the beach bags. Seriously, I have a problem. Why is this the largest group? I am a sucker for a straw beach bag. Give me a market tote and I am a happy happy girl. I’ve had my eye on the Mar y Sol (every single one of them) for months now. This is the perfect excuse to grab mine. The little pom poms are too adorable. Decisions, decisions!

Let the decorating adventures begin

This post has been in my heart and on my mind for months and months. I have been on pins and needles waiting anxiously for us to close on our very own home so I could share with you all. David, Zoe, Henry and I had made the most of our little 3 bedroom basement apartment but I had longed for a place of our own for a while. It seems like every time we moved, we wanted to do one thing or another with our place but rentals don’t give enough freedom to do much and frankly we didn’t feel like spending the money unless we owned it. I stumbled across this beauty in the perfect location just north of Atlanta and as soon as Henry and I pulled up my heart leaped! I knew it was ours!

I had this fabric and this image on my vision board for over a year. I am thrilled to make this dining room come to life.

Our barren living room and long hallway with a peek at Henry’s room.

We are all moved in and have started making it ours. Here are the first sneak peeks of a few rooms and I promise to share finished spaces, projects and a complete house tour on the blog.

Sweet Henry’s room is almost done. I created this alphabet print and I just adore the triangle art on the wall. I can’t wait to reveal the finished room.
David painted the fireplace white. I love a blank slate. These pretty plants and vases captured the light and I had to snap a pic.

If you need some home design inspiration, I have a ton of ideas pinned on my pinterest board, follow along with me and share your favorite decorating ideas. I can’t wait to hear your favorite ideas, stores, colors and projects.
